VxFS is backed up fine.

If /dump/shasta is not part of /etc/vfstab (Solaris) or /etc/fstab (other UNIX flavors) then saveset All won't catch it. That usually happens with file systems mounted over NFS. Is that perhaps NFS mount?

it looks like /dump/shasta was never a slice or separate partition as i expected it to be. It was just a directory under "/". For some reason i had problems backing up that directory but now i think it looks ok. Thanks for the reply

I doubt - see df -k output from your first post. If that would be directory you wouldn't see it there.
