but is it possible to exclude a Exchange Database? Under my understanding I think the exclude file only works with mailbox objects

You could try to use -X switch on the nsrxchsv command.

From admin guide:

"-X exclude_file: Specifies the text file that lists Exchange mailbox objects
and/or save sets not to back up. If an exclude file is used,
mailbox object save sets specified individually on the
command line are ignored."

On the Exchange Admin Guide there's more about how to create the exclude file.

I don't have how to test it here, but I think any valid saveset will work.

Thanks a lot for your replies, i have taken a look in the MSExchange module administration guide and it seems that i can only exclude mail boxes and public folders. Thanks anyway.

In this case, one option will be to use a script to "discover" databases, exclude the ones you don't want, and then launch backup manually from client. Not a nice option, but works :)

By the way Is excluding a SQL Database possible while having scheduled backup with using directive or a command ?
