I would suggest 7.4.4. You need update enablers for this.
I have done a few 7.4.2 & 7.4.3 as well. They are working fine but on a couple of issues, EMC claims there are bugs there which are fixed in 7.4.4. 7.5 is not as stable as 7.4.4 as mentioned byone Support Engineer yesterday. Go for 7.4.4.
I would suggest 7.4.4 too. There is some talk of problems with 7.5 so unless you want to use some features that 7.5 has but are not available with 7.4.4, go for 7.4.4
The update enabler you would need to go to 7.4.4 is the update enabler for 7.3 if I am not mistaken.
There is allot of limitations in 7.4.x as well... but most of the time you do not hit that wall. If you are after stability go after what already has 4 services packs behind - 7.4SP4.
I would be very careful about upgrading to 7.4.4, if you have a server with more that 100 clients on it. Several of us have found that the server just gets confused and must be rebooted daily/semi-daily. Our other 7.4.4 server that has only 10 clients on it works fine. we are suspecting a jobsd issue, but EMC has yet to figure out anything.
If you suspect jobdb then is about number of jobs and not clients. Some setups will have number of jobs exceeding yours with much less clients. When you say that it gets confused - what exactly do you mean under that?
I have increased Jobsd and decreased number of days retained. All to no avail. EMC support has been looking at this for weeks, and has no clue - go figure -
Oh what the heck, you don't really need your backup software to work properly, do you?
