Inquire -c does not list /dev/rmt device names

Question

Ok, I'm trying to setup a DSN on a Sun Solaris 9 server. The HBAs are qlogic 2300s. The tape drives are Fiber connected LTO2. The drives from the TLU log into the switch. The HBAs log into the switch. The drives are shared out to other clients and are running fine. Here is what the output of the inquire -c looks like: scsidev@10.0.0:HP Ultrium 2-SCSI K42W|Tape S/N: HUM4F00890 ATNN:HP Ultrium 2-SCSI HUM4F00890 WWNN:5005084044061B30 WWPN:5005084044061B32 PORT:00000001 scsidev@10.1.0:HP Ultrium 2-SCSI K42W|Tape S/N: HUM4M00629 ATNN:HP Ultrium 2-SCSI HUM4M00629 WWNN:5005084044061B20 WWPN:5005084044061B22 PORT:00000001 However, if I go to /dev/rmt and do an ls, I can see the devices. I've run a devfsadm command which didn't help. When I run an mt -f /dev/rmt/0cbn stat I get the error /dev/rmt/0cbn it says no tape loaded or drive offline.

Hi, do you try touse 'inquire -l' command. It looks the server cannot reconginze the tape drive and robot from FC-SW. I think you should monitor the FC-SW setting, especially the zone admin.

Run the devfsadm -Cv command before running inquire.
