Is there a way to pause the running backup?

Hi guys,

Sometimes I need to restore some files while all my backup drive are busy.
I am wondering if I can pause some current or all running backup for a while then resume it.

Many thanks

You can stop the group backup and then restart. The save sets that are not completed will run while succeeded save sets will not run.

If you have some time you can service mode a drive, wait until all running sessions on this drive are finished, new sessions will go to different drives, and if no more waiting requests for backup to pool xyz are open you may enable the drive and the recover will mount the required volumes.

There is no way to pause a backup, only disrupt. But incomplete savesets, which will re-run during restart, might be large....

If you want to be prepared for recovery at any time you may use AFTD. This works for any filesystem backup, but not yet for database module backup like mssql or msex.

No way, but there is RFE for that opened.

Approach with interruption might be way to got once that checkpoint will be integrated (somewhere end of next year I believe) thus huge save sets won't be an issue any more.

Hi Holger_Inf

What do you mean by AFTD?

AFTD: Advanced File Type Device.

B2D: Backup to Disc

You would need a B2D License
