I never really worked with jbedit - i think it is easier to reinstall the whole jbox. But i admit this is a personal issue.
I think the message points to the fact that the device must have been added with "Scan for devices ..." first. This makes new tape drives appear as (detected but) unconfigured. As long as they do appear here it is obvious that you cannot configure them.
I used the "Scan for Device" functionality in the NMC which brought up the four drives. But I need to rename them as their names are now /dev/nst0, /dev/nst1, /dev/nst4, /dev/nst5. I don't know how to do that.
I think you are right, reinstalling the whole library is easier!
But did you think that you mightg also need to expand the number of drives inside the jukebox?
Dude, seriously? What is this thread about?
Anyway, I did fix the issue. I needed to create a dummy device pointing to that path where the physical drives resides on. Then the jedit-command went smooth through.

Nope, I wanna rename them for better understanding. Some co-workers need "real" names
.

I reconfigured the library from scratch.
While adding the drives the same error occurred:
Changing device name from /dev/tape/ to rd= :/dev/tape .
3944:jbedit: Cannot find device `rd= :/dev/tape ' in 'unconfig device names' resource.
Can anyone help me out?

Yes, the system sees everything it needs to see. There are actually some clone jobs to the library running right now.
Yes, when I execute "inquire" on the SN. I see eight drives (the four new and the four older one) plus the library control.

Two issues are important and mandatory:
1. Does the system see the lbrary and tape drives at all
2. Does NW see the library with "inquire". Remember to execute the command locally on the SN.

Does the jukebox 'know' about the extra drives? -
Of course the system will see it and NetWorker as well. But did you think that you mightg also need to expand the number of drives inside the jukebox?
