I think Networker Specialist exam is not available anymore (can't find it on EMC's Education website and in the Prometric too). You have to go after "E20-097: EMC Technology Foundations - Backup and Recovery Exam", and then you can take a specialist test (3 or 4 paths availables for specialist)

You asked about NW specialist so we responded accordingly. There is no restriction to do Foundation first before Specialist. Powerlink hs Certifications Tab in Education that details each Syllabus and suggested readings. In most cases, you need to buy the Web training, Video ILT or attend their class else you check the syllabus...learn by experienece and then check your knowledge on Powerlink's samples.

Yes, it is a good field and NW people are in demand. It is good to start with in this industry but as you move ahead gradually, I would suggest adding more technologies to your profile. It is perhaps for this reason that even EMC has discontinued NW specific exams and added some basic backup concepts & products like Avamar etc so that the candidate has more knowledge about the bakcup streams and other products and is not restricted to Networker.

There is no restriction to do Foundation
first before Specialist.

Is this true? I saw once that you had to pass the Foundation before taking the Specialist. You could do either Backup and Recovery Foundation or EMC Technology Foundations (this one could be used as the Foundation exam for any education path).

I could not find this anymore on the Education website, but has really this changed?

I never saw any such restriction mentioned on the Education web site. I did my specialists before I decided finally to go for STF.
