Are you trying to do MAPI backup perhaps? Because MS does not support that nor will EMC then. I believe for your setup NMM would be good rather than NME.

Yes, we wan't to use MAPI backups, so we can do mailbox-level backups / restores. Is this realy not supported in Windows 2008 / Exchange 2007. In the NME 5.1 docu is written, that i'ts compatible with Ex 2007 and there is no info that MAPI backups would not work.

Are mailbox-level backups with the NMM possible?

You should use SG for that. As much colleague would say - create as many SGs and have less mailboxes inside.

MAPI mailbox approach is not supported with earlier Exchange as well - as far as MS is asked. This means that if 3rd party backup tool (eg, NME) provides this functionality it does not mean that you would get support by MS in case that you or EMC finds there is an issue with their MAPI calls.

I'm in the same situation.

I've a open case with EMC support, and they haven't told me I can't backup mailboxes, but they haven't either given me the solution to back them up.

Also, in the module documentation individual mailboxes backup/restore is supported, but never works.

Also the new Exch2007 save command doesn't work, I'm still using the 2003 one.

I'm still waiting for a solution.

I believe with 2007 idea is to push NMM to be used.
