Monitoring Status EBR Appliance with EMC DPA

Is it possible to monitor the status of an EBR appliance wit DPA? If yes, how? I don't see any active alerts in the Advisor when we e.g. stops the core service on an EBR appliance.

Hi Vincent,

As of now and as far as I know there is no option available from the DPA.

Try the following and let me know if it gives you alert on NMC the next time VBA services are taken down.

1. Log in to NMC and wait for the NMC Enterprise window to be displayed.

2. Right-click Enterprise from the left navigation tree and select New > Host.

3. Enter the VMware Backup Appliance hostname or IP and click Next. The Select Host Type dialog displays.

4. Select Avamar and click Next, and then click Finish.

This should now give you a summary of VBA status when you click on the name, just like how the NetWorker details show up when you click NetWorker server name on the LHS of navigation tree.

let me know, how that works,

Hello Chetan,

If it's possible we want receive alerts in DPA so we can pass it on to Microsoft SCOM.

So using NMC is not the preffered option is our case.

Also, you can configure alerts/notifications directly from the vCenter itself.

Hi VincentJansen ,

Monitoring of VBA is not possible from DPA right now, you can only run Reports which will list down Backups done through VBA.
