NDMP backup failed
Hello,
I had NDMP backup failed for my Netapp appliance, it is failing for a specific volume not all the volumes. here is the errors i can see
nasdir:/vol/nas7 nsrndmp_2fh: interrupted, exiting the File History merging...
nasdir:/vol/nas7 nsrndmp_save: backup failed.
nasdir:/vol/nas7 nsrndmp_2fh: nsrndmp_2fh aborted.
nasdir:/vol/nas7 aborted due to inactivity
How can i troubleshoot that, and why it is failing for that specific volume ?
APpreciate your help.
Mourad

Hi Mourad,
What is your NetWorker version and what is the backup level you are using for that NDMP backup ?
What is the group inactivity timeout setting in the Group properties under the advanced tab. The default value is 30 minutes, I would suggest changing this setting to 0 (zero).
Thanks,

Ahmed,
networker version is 7.6.3.2 and my backup level is 1 , i would like to mention that Full backup works but level 1 is failing for that particular volume. I will change the group settings and update you shortly.
Thank you
Mourad

Hi Mourad,
Frequently incremental NDMP backups (level 1-9 backups) fails due to inactivity timeout, Where NAS devices takes a very long time to check the filesystem and compare file headers to determine which files have changed since the last lower level backup. When this exceeds the group timeout, the backup will fail. So by changing the inactivity timeout attribute to Zero instead of 30 minutes you will avoid that issue.
Waiting your updates.
Thanks,
