NDMP Recoveries

Is it possible to recover NDMP Netapp FAS3020C data to a Windows server?

Even if remote access is set to *@*, it shows only filers hostnames for destination server.

What do they refer to under Raw device recoveries in the admin guide?

It's not possible. Why not restoring back to filer and exporting via CIFS to Windows box?

no - to my knowledge - you can only recover NDMP data back to a NDMP host.

You could back the data up across the LAN, and then recover that to a windows host - but TIME & Amount of data might be the issue.

Just wondering if filer goes bad for a couple of days...we cannot use the backed up data.

Get another filer - that is ndmpd limitation.

Be sure to choose the same manufacturer of filer as NDMP is only a management protocol, it is compatible for all devices, but the data backed up is manufacturer dependent. You can't restore NAS to Cellera for example, it's not possible.
