NDMP restore to different volume

Hi,

we are backing up different volumes from a NetApp filer via NDMP with Networker 7.3.2. Restore operations within the backed up volume are no problem. We can access the files after restore of the whole saveset without any problems via CIFS or NFS share. When restoring a complete volume saveset to a different volume using the relocate-Option in Networker User we are not able to access (read or copy) the files anymore via CIFS or NFS share even though the directory listing shows all files with correct size and restore operation completed successfully. Any ideas how to access the files on the different volume?

Greetings.

Make sure that relocate location is also exported. Also make sure that same set of permission rules is applied. (of course, you could always access those via filer itself directly, but that is not an option for end user I assume).

We have exported the relocate location via CIFS and NFS. the recovered files are listed via the shares to. In Windows we don't see the normal permissions tab within the file or folder properties. Do you have any ideas how to apply the permissions from the old volume onto the new one a NetApp R200?

thanks in advance

Do you have EXTRACT_ACL set?

Yes, EXTRACT_ACL is set as you can see below.

Backup command:
nsrndmp_save -T dump

Application Information:
HIST=y
DIRECT=y
UPDATE=y
EXTRACT_ACL=y

No idea then. It seems as data is recovered and eveything is well, but why via share you can't access seems to be more question for NetApp people. I remember in the past there has been always some kind of issue with NDMP permissions and OnTap that kept being fixed from one release to another... I would suggest to involve NetApp people in that too... Did you check now.netapp.com?
