Hi,

Did you tried to uninstall the NMC and re-install it again ? if you do that and still the issue persists, can you please try to install the NMC on another machine and check how it behaves ? Have you tried a reboot to that machine in which the NMC is installed on ?

Also please when you are going to reinstall, please install the latest version of NMC which is included with the latest NetWorker version 7.6.3.4 , you can download it from here based on your OS:

ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/NetWorker/Cumulative_Hotfixes/7.6/

Waiting your kind updates.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa

Just did the uninstall, but the reinstall failed.  Rebooting and will try again.  Did reboot after the installs before.  Also, reading conflicting messages on Java.  I've read that Java 1.7 works, but in the documentation from the FTP site it says only 1.6 is supported.  ??

Still same issues.  Have uninstalled NMC.  Have downloaded latest patch 7.6.3.4.  Have renamed Management folder.  GST and GST Webservice both start and stop.  Networker Backup and Recovery service stops.  Trying to login:  Cannot contact server (typical since services won't stay running).

Should I uninstall Networker as well?  Don't want to lose all my settings.

Thanks.

Our EMC techs have left the company.

Hi

NetWorker 7.6.3 Supports Java. 1.6 and above.

Please try a fresh installation of NMC. Uninstall NMC, rename Management folder under Legato.Install NMC again, then check GST service status.

Please the download NetWorker from the FTP link provided by the Ahmed Bahaa.

Thanks

Hi,

Did you tried to install the NMC on another remote machine , may be your desktop or a storage node , is it installed correctly and works perfectly ? Actually i believe there is an issue with the operating system itself as it seems it faults for the ntdll.dll which is a windows library file .... Is your machine is fully patched with the latest Windows updates for Windows 2003 ?

I will look more for that faulting with the ntdll.dll and how to fix it, until that please try to install NMC on different machine and check the Windows updates on that machine.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa

I am patching the 2003 server right now.  So far no good.  Two faulting issues.  the ntdll.dll and one other.  Will report tomorrow. Tried installing on my workstation, but I must need to install the server, client and NMC?  Because just client and nmc doesn't find a Networker server and cannot continue.  Looking to see if there is just a console install.  Thanks for your assistance.  Looking for our license and EMC company information to call Support if I can't get past this.

NMC runs fine on another 2003 server.  I receive connect errors to the Networker server, unable to connect via UDP ping.  Will work out these issues and see if I can actually manage the Networker server from here, or if there are other issues.

I am at a loss.  I can read the nsr logs and see that Networker is waiting on tapes, etc.  Just can't get the GST to stay running.  I uninstalled, reinstalled, etc.  I set all services to manual and started the GST last.  It stayed running for a bit longer and then quit.

If I install on another machine, it will not connect to the Networker server.  But the GST stays running.  So I am at a loss.  We'll have to locate our license information and contact support.  For some reason, I think it's a JAVA issue where maybe a newer version is not totally uninstalled (?) or a JAVA setting that needs to be tweaked on the NS.

I had this exact problem. Uninstall and reinstall fixed it. It's  understood you have tried this. The only thing I can think of is uninstall gst, rename or delete folder and clean up registry manually. Reboot and try again. It's unlikely the java version would affect this.

Thanks.  Have done all that.  Have another option here:  Powerpath is 5.3 sp1.  Found a document on this causing problems with GST.  Going to install 5.5 sp1 tomorrow.

This problem was due solely to PowerPath 5.3 sp1.  Installing to 5.5 sp1 resolved the problem.  GST starts and stays running.  I'm back in the console.
