Networker 8 , lacking GUI features
I am fairly new to Networker but I have used many backup products over the last 15 years. I am currently using Networker 7.6.3 , I have installed Networker version 8.0 server and still you cannot start backup for a client by the GUI . C'mon it is 2012 now, what are the arguments of not having that feature in the GUI ?
Also it would be very useful for scripting purposes to see what commands will be executed when you are doing something in the GUI, Exchange 2010 administrators will know what I am talking about.

Hello Starman - Thank you for downloading the NetWorker 8.0 code and sharing commentary on your early experience. And welcome to the NetWorker community.
NetWorker 8.0 is our first big step in transitioning NetWorker into the solution that will meet the data protection needs of of our customers for years to come. We agree with you...no excuses. In fact, the original draft for NetWorker 8.0 included an update that would allow the backup administrator to initiate recovery from NMC and would not require the admin to log into the client system (Centralized recovery). The engineering estimates exceeded the timeline for NetWorker 8.0, and considering the list of other architectural enhancements already confirmed for the 8.0 'train' we chose to defer this feature to a subsequent release train. This decision does require a little more patience by our community of administrators, but it allows engineering the time needed to do it once and do it right. The goal is to meet the need and maybe even exceed the expectations. I'm not able to discuss roadmap in this forum, but I can confirm that the engineering work on this enhancement is underway and you can expect to see this next step in NetWorker's evolution in the not so distant future.
Best reagrds,
Mark

I am not talking about recovery (restore), I would like to be able to right click the client in the NMC GUI and select "start backup" (or saveset if you will). But to manually start a backup on a single client I have use the CLI and issue this command: savegrp -c clientname -l Full -G groupname
