"networker" command

I have inherited the role of Backup administrator for our company and have noticed something that I am not sure how to resolve. On some of our Linux hosts, after exporting the display, I can run the command "networker" and it will start up a "Networker Administrator" GUI. The problem is that not all of the Linux hosts have this functionality. When I type in the "networker" command I get "unrecognized command". I would like to know what I have to do / configure / install to have this functionality. All of the Linux hosts run legato 7.4 and are only clients, not the networker server. I can run commands such as "nwretrieve" to bring up a GUI, just not "networker".

Thank you very much!

Unless I'm mistaken, networker used to be symlink to nwadmin command. However nwadmin is discontinued as of 7.3.x version and replaced with NMC GUI. For monitoring purposes, depending on complexity, you may use nsrwatch.

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately I am still lacking the functionality I need. Now that I have looked at it, the 2 linux hosts that allow the "networker" command are running 7.1, not 7.4. In addition, the nsrwatch command does give me a nice interface, but I am really looking for some sort of Management GUI and am wondering if there is such an interface?

Thanks again

In 7.3.x and after you have concept of report/configuration server which is java based and called NMC (NetWorker Management Console). You install in on one machine and then you can access it via http from any other machine. That's how it works now. Check if you have NMC server installed somewhere and if not pick one machine where you will install it and configure it.

Alright, well it appears that the functionality just isn't available anymore. I do use NMC on my machine, but was looking for a command that would open up a GUI within Linux. Thank you for all of your help.

As long as you have pre-7.3.x client you can use it even you won't see all new functionality out there since its release. Even it is not recommended for newcomers, with time you will start to love nsradmin too (which on UNIX has extra visual feature).

1) Check whether correct path is set or not.
or
1) go to ' \nsr\bin' and execute the 'winworkr -s

Hermant,

- on Linux there no winworkr (that's Win32 alias for nwadmin)
- as of 7.3.x there has been some changes in GUI as discussed above
