Well, could be network (eg. proxy) or java - I doubt something else can be...

Some additional information:

The gst service was running:

[root@backup01 ~]# ps -ef | grep gst

root      4672     1  0 Jan14 ?        00:00:03 /opt/lgtonmc/bin/gstd

root      4678  4672  0 Jan14 ?        00:00:02 /opt/lgtonmc/sybasa/bin/dbsrv9 -ct- -x tcpip(ServerPort=2638) -ti 1500 -tl 6000 -sb 0 -Q -gk all -o /opt/lgtonmc/logs/db_output -n gst_on_backup01 /nsr/lgtonmc/lgto_gstdb/lgto_gst.db

root      4715  4672  0 Jan14 ?        00:00:00 /opt/lgtonmc/bin/gsttclsh -D 0 -p 4672 /opt/lgtonmc/bin/httpd.tcl

root     19334 19304  0 11:46 pts/1    00:00:00 grep gst

[root@backup01 ~]#

If I try to start browsing http://ip_address_of_server:9000 it pulls up the NMC splash screen and prompts me for a login.

I enter my username and password and it does nothing. If I enter an incorrect password it tells me that the password is incorrect. So it's as if it knows the correct password but just cannot launch the java window. If I reclick on the NMC icon I can enter in my password again, and again.  Nothing launches.  In task manager it shows the javaw.exe running.  If I continue to try launching the NMC multiple times it executes mulitple instances of javaw.exe in task manager. I have try to clear java cache, and I use the exactly version of java provided from the server.

Another question, how can I put gst il debug mode? the enviromentals GST_DEBUG=9 doesn't seems to work.

Thanks for any help

A.

Andre81,

Do you use License Manager within NetWorker? If not check lgtolmd process is not started or installed?

I' ve put gst deamon (gstd) in debug mode, and I can see this error:

[root@backup01 lgto_gstdb]# tail -f /opt/lgtonmc/logs/gstd.raw

and I've found a similar problem:

http://www.backupcentral.com/phpBB2/two-way-mirrors-of-external-mailing-lists-3/emc-networker-19/nmc-problems-60199/

but how can add license? Why I'm lost the license?

Hi

Have you tried restarting the gst on the server?

If you stop it and make sure that no gst is running and then restart.

@Bill,

This server until now isn't managed by me, so I don't know if is used LLM (License Manager) or the deamon lgtolmd.

The deamon lgtolmd isn't running and I can't find in the whole system.

License Manager I don't know how to check.

Info: all is installed on RedHat (networker, nmc, etc)

@ottov,

I've tried to restart the service many times, including server restart, without success.

Thanks for any help

Have you tried calling NMC from the Linux box itself?

Thanks Crvelin,

the network can't be, because there is only one switch through them.

Could be a Java configuration, but at the moment it's seems ok.

@ottov, the problem described in this kb, talk about a gst service that stops automatically, but in this case the service doesn't stop automatically.

Perhaps can be a LDAP problem, I'm investigating about them.

Hi Andre,

If you think it could be a LDAP problem, try to reset back to NW authentication. You can reconfigure LDAP later.

To revert back to NW authentication just replace the file Config.xml for the Config.xml.template

Rename the Config.xml file to any other name, and rename Config.xml.template to Config.xml (better take just a copy of Config.xml.template and then rename it so that you keep the template as well.

These files are located under:

/opt/lgtonmc/cst

C:\Program Files (x86)\EMC\\Legato\Management\cst (I think) in Windows.

Please note that the LDAP authentication won't work until you reconfigure it.

Thank you,

Carlos.

Hi @ all,

PROBLEM SOLVED, now I can access to NMC through another machine; the principal problem was in java configuration, the network settings are set to take browser settings instead of using direct connection (the same in java client)

But now, I'm asking about this error:

ERROR generated: file licenses.c line #1625

if the server can't generate licenses.c file why the NMC works?

Another question: the networker licenses are time unlimited or every year I need to purchase?

(Please, consider that I'm new on Networker, and from now I'm the new person that take the control of this server)

Thanks

A.

Do you see that error in log?  If so, do you see it all the time or there is some connection to specific event?  I greped my log, but I could not find that one.  NMC does not require license (unless running oldish NMC which was separate application from NW). I stopped long time collecting versions of NW so I can't really tell you which version your is translated to NW, but it is not most recent one for sure.  Updating it might be good idea.  As for licenses in NW, they are unrelated to NMC (again, unless you are running arhaic oldish NMC and NW).
