Networker, Netware 6.5, ESX3: invalidating connection

Hello,

We have a problem with Networker on a Novell Netware server. The daemon.log contains a message: nsrindexd: pid 2780 frag size 863007347, invalidating connection
After that the running backup job will retry after it is finished completely. It is not possible to restore data from the save sets, but the save set are occupying tapespace.

The problem occurrs only with the large volume, both SYS and CLIPBORD are handled as expected. USERS however keeps failing with the invalidating connection message.

12/12/06 03:42:12 nsrindexd: pid 2780 frag size 863007347, invalidating connection
12/12/06 05:49:34 nsrd: rt03-cl03-azr-nl:USERS: done saving to pool 'KA Pool' (KA_tape-15) 402 GB
12/12/06 05:49:52 savegrp: rt03-cl03-azr-nl:USERS: will retry 1 more time(s)

Environment:

ESX 3.0.1 (32039)

VM: Novell Netware 6.5 Support Pack 04
* TSAFS version 6.51.05
* Networker Client version 7.02.01
* Volumes: SYS (5GB, on VMFS3 file system)
* CLIPBORD (10GB) and USERS (500GB) as Mapped Raw LUNs on Clarriion CX500

Any help is most welcome...

Hi,

this is from the networker software compatability guide:

ESX 3.0 and ESX 2.5.2 NW 7.3 and up client, storage
node and server
NW client and storage node within a Service Console. Backup and recover of *.dsk files
NW client, storage node and server within a VM. Backup and recover of Windows and Linux file systems within a VM
NOTE: VMware DOES NOT support any tape drives on a SAN. For details please refer to ESX documentation

I do not think ESX3.0 with Netware is supported by EMC Legato, only windows and linux and then only with NW73+.

Sorry.
