Networker v7.4.x and Windows server core 2008

Does Networker v7.4.x support backing up server core 2008 and if so what exact version and client installation/managment procedures as I have been trying to find this information in the KB area and forums with no luck.

Starting as of 7.4SP2 will do for client. Current version is 7.4SP4.

OK, but how does it install? All installation packages for Windows clients we have are GUI based executables. Where can I get the command line version? Or is the client install package the same for both?

It installs as any other version. You download the package from Powerlink, unpack it and start setup. Then select client to be installed only and that's it.

Even on server core? Server Core has no Windowing or GUI interface. All of the installation packages from Powerlink appear to be GUI based. This is the reason I am asking if there is a command line verion of the installation as I am not sure if "autorun.exe" would work on the server core version of Windows 2008.

OK, I have tried the installation package using the "setup.exe" program in the "Networkr" directory. However, the installation appears to have worked, it did not prompt me for the Networker servers to create the server list. I have tried to look for the servers file to edit it to add the name of the Networker server, but I cannot find the file. Do I have to create that file from scratch? Or is it not necessary any longer? If not how does the client know which backup server it needs to work from?

I believe you could use option for setup as you would for so called silent install. You will find more details on past threads - just search for it. NW client doesn't need GUI to run so I see no problems running it on core (except that might not be in support matrix, but for that you need to check compatibility guide).

Normally, if the servers file does not exist or is blank, all NW servers in the environment are allowed to interact with the client. If you want to restrict, you could create this file manually and restart the client services.
