NMM 8.2 install error with MAPI CDO version

Question

I have a brand new Exchange 2010 SP3 RU7 box running on Windows 2012 (not R2). Wanted to go with the new NW 8.2.03 & NMM 8.2 since I had some mixed experiences with NMM 3 sp1. But its throwing an error on the config checker for the MAPI CDO version. I had version 6.5.8320 installed, but it doesn't like that and wants v. 6.5.8244.0 instead. However, when you try to install that, it fails and says it must have Outlook 2007 installed!  What is funny is that if I try to install NW 8.1.1.x & NMM 3.0 sp1 it will pass with the newer MAPI CDO version. I have scoured the docs and can't find anything. AM I missing anything? I know somebody will come back and ask 'Why do you want latest version'. But that won't help me.

Hi Zguy28 As per documentation: MAPI client and Collaboration Data Objects Access to Exchange messaging stores utilized by NMM mailbox backups requires the MAPI and CDO kit. The Exchange Server software does not include the MAPI client libraries and CDO. You can download these applications from Microsoft’s website. Exchange Server 2007 requires the Messaging API (MAPI) and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) kit for RSG support. Exchange Server 2010 and 2013 require the MAPI/CDO kit for RDB support. For information on downloading and installing this package, search for 'Microsoft Exchange MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects' on the Microsoft Download Center website. Exchange Server 2010 and 2007 require 6.5.8244.0. Exchange Server 2013 requires version 6.5.8320.0 or later.             The NetWorker Online Software Compatibility Guide contains information about the latest version of the MAPI and CDO kit that NMM supports.

Documentation for NMM 3.1 states:

For information on downloading and installing this package, search for "Microsoft Exchange MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects" on the Microsoft Download Center website. Version 6.5.8320.0 or later is required for Exchange Server 2007, 2010 and 2013.

So for NMM 8.2 different version of MAPI/CDO is required.

I assume you are good now once you applied the correct MAPI version? If so please mark the question as answered.

I understand that, but 8244 doesn't install on Windows 2012. However, why then does NW8.1/NMM3.0.1 not fail this check when version 6.5.8320.0 is installed with Exchange 2010?

EDIT: I found my mistake. I was trying to install the 8244 version of CDO for office, not Exchange MAPI/CDO
