NMM230.81 issue with Exchange 2010 DAG when node has no active DB's
Hello,
We are performing Exchange 2010 DAG backups and are backing up only active databases on both nodes (NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=active)
When all databases are active/mounted on one node we receive the following error on the other node:
NMM - There are no saveset objects to add to the replica
NMM - backup failed to complete successfully
nsrsnap_vss_save - createInstanceBackup() failed
nsrsnap_vss_save - APPLICATIONS: \Microsoft Exchange 2010: failed
NMM - .. bye bye
nsrsnap_vss_save - Exiting with failure.
And the group backup also receives failed status !
Is there a parameter we should add ? or something else ?
Please advice.
regards,
Tom.

Hello Tom,
Unfortunately that is normal behavior. Note that you are instructing NetWorker/NMM to backup Active DB's, and if one of the nodes you are trying to backup is not currently hosting any Active DB, backup will fail as "nothing to save".
Please check the following article for more information:

Thank you.
Carlos.

Hello Tom,
This is the way NMM and NetWorker works per design.
NMM design is if there is not respective backup type mailbox database found while running DAG backup, then we will fail backup.
Core Networker design is, if we have more than one client running on same backup group, if any one of the client backup failed then overall backup results showing failure however remaining client backup's completed successfully.
AS an alternate option you could backup only one node and set NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=all
In this case you need to run the backup only against one of the DAG nodes, and it will be backing up all DB's.
Thank you.
Carlos.

Hello Carlos, but I don't think it's "good" behaviour to have a group backup fail when one of it's nodes has no active databases.
Please advise...See screenshot below
