Do you have manual backups enabled or error message is incorrect?

If you do client initiated backup of F:\ backup what do you get? If error, run it in debug mode and see if any extra info helps. Then try to copy that folder with explorer and see if that works.

The configuration I have is this:

Backup Server1 - with Legato NetWorker 7.3.1 (network one)

Backup StorageNode1 - with Legato NetWorker 7.3.1 --> with a LTO-3 (in network two)
+ the server with the F:\backup folder...

When I start the Legato client in the server with the F:\backup folder connect with the BackupServer1 with no problems... when I try to make a manual backup this error messages comes up:

backup: SYSTEM error: manual backups are not enabled on BackupServer1
backup: cannot open backup session with BackupServer1

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Now is enabled, and the backup from the client to the storage node it's correct... all the files are in the backup and no error message...

But when I run the backup from the server, I have the problems...

Any ideas?

Try that backup again from server now and see if it fails. During that test open cmd on client inside F:\backup and play with dir command... jut to make sure disk/directory is still there. If it fails from server, I would suggest to run save in debug mode and see why it fails. Check if account under which nsrexecd is running has necessary permissions too.

Put save -D9 in backup command of the client and run th group. If you suspect 7.3.1 to be the issue (on client side) you may wish to try 7.2.2 or something else. Is there anything special to that F:\backup? Is it DFS? Is different file system, anything different from the rest of the disk area (which bring me to question if you can backup other parts of F drive?)...?

The backup from the server fails... I check the directories and they're still in the partition, the permission are correct... and just one stupid thing... how do I run the save group session in debug mode?

Thanks Hrvoje...

Here's the interesting thing... i can copy some other folders in F:\, i can backup F:\Backup2, F:\Backup3... but this one, I can't make the damn backup... The client and the server, and storage node are 7.3.1 versions, and it's the same file system...

This is the line from the daemon.log:

07/21/06 13:41:34 savegrp: command 'save -s backupserver -g Test Default -LL -f - -m server1 -l full -q -W 78 -N F:\Backup F:\Backup ' for client server1 exited with return code 1.
07/21/06 13:41:34 savegrp: job (5468) host: server1 savepoint: F:\Backup had ERROR indication(s) at completion.
07/21/06 13:41:34 savegrp: server1:F:\Backup failed.
07/21/06 13:41:34 savegrp: server1:F:\Backup will retry 1 more time(s)

Pretty odd, don't you think?

Well, try with some other client... let's say 7.1.4 or 7.2.2. Just for test. I doubt, but perhaps my mistake NW is case sensitive and F:\BACKUP does not exist, but F:\Backup does or something like that. That would be of course bug, but I'm just thinking what it could be... In such case saveset All would work. Did you try ever saveset All? As for case match, check what Explorer or cmd pronpt says for F:\baCkUp.

Btw, what was the savesep here this time? I can see
- F:\grupos\Area SCM being done
- F:\Certificados Digitales AQUARIA fails (try to change that to F:/Certificados Digitales AQUARIA - I believe that should do a trick with blanks).

If that fails, give it to support - I assume this should be easy to reproduce and finding workaround should be probably also easy task.

Hi Hrvoje...

I try with the saveset All, and it doesn't work either... I just find out, because I'm running the saveset folder by folder...

Let me try something else... I'll keep you noticed about this thing...

Thanks!

Have seen the same weird problem on Window 2K3 clients...some drives could be backed-up, others not. When i use enter the name like this:
\\SERVERNAME\H:\ then it works... I don't know why ???
We are using Networker 7.2.1

Above would make sense if drive would not be recognized/reported as local drive.
