Problem Creating Adv File Type Device on Virtual Cluster

I am having trouble creating an Adv. File Type device on a virtual cluster server in a MSCS two node cluster due to what appears to be the failure of nsrmmd to run on the storage node. Storage Node agent is installed on both physical nodes of the cluster. Both physical nodes and the two virtual run backups sucessfully to the tape library attached to the master server. Also, each client has dedicated NICs and there is a network allocated for just backups. The alias and host files were updated accordingly with the names and IPs for the backup network as was the Server Network Inteface field within each client resource. The deamon log gives the following messages when the adv file type device is created:
Check storage node: "virtual server" (nsrmon at timeout) and Check storage node: "virtual server" (program not registered). It then tries to restart nsrmmd.
The device cannot be labeled or mounted either. Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay

Did you perhaps define device over virtual name? It sounds like that.. well, that won't work and manual says it so too.
