problems with installing Networker Client on HP Integrity Linux server

We are in the process of evaluating Networker. We were able to install the Networker server and also client software on a HP DL360 server running RedHat Linux AS 4 Release 6. However, the main client we are trying to backup is an pair of HP Integrity Server running Oracle RAC on Linux AS 4 Update 5. When we tried to install the Networker client 7.4.1 it seemed to install fine but would not restart. We were told by EMC support that the Networker client are trying to use the same ports being used by Oracle RAC? EMC so far has not been able to tell us of a way to configure the Networker Client to use different ports? Has anyone else run into this? Would appreciate any help we can get. There is already Oracle instance up and running so we would like to avoid having to change the port numbers being used by Oracle if possible.

Cheers,

Derek

I have not heard of Oracle RAC using same ports as NW client. If it so as a standard, then Oracle RAC would allways have issues with NW client. May be you need to get this check by Oracle people and change ports there is possible.

What ports are used by Oracle in your case? As long as they are not 7937 and 7938 ports should not be an issue.
