Query about excluding Removable Storage Database from Backup

I am reasonably new to NetWorker so please forgive me if the answer to this question is blindingly obvious!

We have NetWorker 7.2.1 Build 311 backing up Windows 2000 servers. On some of those servers, the Removable Storage service has been disabled. The error message I get in savegrp.log is as follows:

SYSTEM DB:\ Removable Storage Database - rsmow: Could not start RSM service for backup operation
SYSTEM DB:\ Removable Storage Database - Error saving

Our third party reporting software sees this as a partial backup and I have been tasked to reduce the number of partials.

I have been successful using directives to exclude other files, but cannot for the life of me work out how to exclude the Removable Storage Database. I have read the manuals and searched here, but can't find anything. Could someone please help?

One simple method would be to avoid bakcup of SYSTEM DB:, if you can afford to do that.

Enable RSM. If this node is storage node simply disable handling of devices and library under RSM properties.

Unfortunately these servers are not ours, and the customer's change process is so long winded and tortuous that it would be like using a pile driving machine to crack a nut.

Well, to be honest I remember at least one system where I was able to backup SYSTEM savesets where RSM is disabled so I guess there must be other way around. The truth is latest example of such setup was using Windows 2003 and probably VSS was in use... You may check with support if to have SYSTEM DB successful you must have RSM enabled or not. Even you could verify that easily as it takes just few tests (I would suggest both win2k and win2k3 to be tested). Then you will know exactly what is your problem and potential resolutions.
