Error 1920 Service Networker Remote Exec Service failed to start

Question

Hi Guys,

I'm having a problem installing NW713 over v611 on W2k server. I get the error "Error 1920 Service Networker Remote Exec Service failed to start". I can reinstall v611 or v613 without issues.

I raised a case with support but they recommended a registry hack to clear out any Networker references (support note 52816). I'm not comfortable with this due to the is a class 1 server in my company.

Would anyone have any other ideas ?

Simpy do it - did that few times in the past. The issue as far as I rerember was related to MSI. There was a LGTpa created for it too.

666 spreading the world LGTpas do not created only for NW bugs, but all problems related to NW when opened with support. Part of them ends up always to be something related to some other product outside EMC/Legato world. You may wish to open a support call to check it out.

I deleted all entries of nsr,legato,networker from registry but still the same issue is occuring. Any help would be greatly appreciatedTks,Liam

Yes this system is part of a cluster (but the cluster does not work correctly, so the app does not work on this node)

- what happens if instead of 7.1.3 you use 7.2.2? - Exact same thing

Also, describe how do you do upgrade - by uninstalling 6.1.x first and installing 7.1.2 then or by doing an update over old version?

I uninstalled v611, removed all registry settings, then installed v713 and 722 both fail on starting the services for the first time.

But I can reinstall any version of 6 without issues.

Well, if you had this opened with Legato then they are aware of LGTpa I spoke before as that one was with cluster too. Perhaps you wish to check with support if they checked that anyway.

Tell me what happens if you copy nsr client directory from some other box (when NW is installed) and start nsrexecd from the cmd? (can't say that would work, it is just a blind shot).
