Networker7.4 with two ndmp storage node

I'm a fresher in emc networker and now I'm in the process of configuring networker 7.4 with two ndmp storage. I've added both storage nodes in networker.

Tape library has two drives and I need to configure each drive to a specific storage node. Please give me the steps to configure it using jbconfig.

Two fundamental issue:

  - when you say "NDMP Storage Nodes" do you expect them to save data from other clients as well?

  - who shall control the robot?

In general, if your network is fast enough and your amount of data is moderate, let me suggest that you backup your NDMP clients via the NetWorker Data Service Agent (DSA) which is much easier to handle.

Thank you for your support.

NDMP storage nodes are NAS 5320 and networker installed on a solaris backup server.

Unfortunately, you statement does not answer my question.

In general, I could have made this statement: "You cannot backup non-NDMP clients to NDMP storage nodes."

In other words:

  - A NDMP client with a locally attached device can only be a local/dedicated storage node - he can only backup his own data. This is due to to several compatibility issues.

  - Consequently, you must decide whether you want to use the tape drives at the NDMP clients and solely for these clients. In this case you must use other/more devices for the non-NDMP clients.

  - Also i do not recommend to connect the jukebox control to a NDMP filer. It is possible - that's actually when you need to install a 'NMDP jukebox'. But this means that you allow NMDP to take control and NetWorker only controls the rot indirectly.

Once again, you should consider using DSA, if possible.

As you still did not answer who controls the jukebox, may i suggest that you simply run "jbconfig" on you server and

  - select option 2 (SCSI jukebox) or 4 (SJI jukebox) if the NW server controls it.

  - select option 3 (NDMP jukebox) if the NDMP filer controls it.

Then answer the questions thoroughly.

.... and why 7.4?  This is outdated version by all standards.
