Just leave the client resources as is on the NW server. Upgrade your client, reinstall NW client and test the backup. Especially if Hostname & IP have not changed, there should not be a problem.
If you are OK with losing the data you backed up for this client, you can opt to delete it and re-create and if you think you might need the backed up data, note the client Id of the client, delete it and while recreating use the client ID you noted down.
Normally, you should not be required to do anything else but simply continue backups after upgrading OS & reinstalling NW client. Just ensure your host files & DNS have the correct entries.
