Restore from Tape to DIsk on DD 890 using NW

Question

Hello All,

I am trying to restore 7 yrs worth of data from LTO 3 tapes which were created using Networker to Data Domain 890. I have been reading the manual on this but can some one who has done this before list the steps involved in this and also if there are any site and network prerequisties that need to be ironed out before we even start configuring Networker?

I will have to find out the answers for this from the customer....as of now all i know is that they have LTO3 tapes so 400GBs each and i believe the DD is connected to NW server via IP....the actual scenario is one NW server on their primary site writing to Tape Library and another networker server writing to DD in their COLO....I have to find out from the client if they want to use one networker server or both...any help with the script or nsrclone command will be a lot of help.

Hi Keyur,

Short answer:

I suppose you are talking about migrating data from LTO3 to DD, right? If you you would need to configure the DD appliance, devices and pools and then migrate the savesets to the DD device.

I cannot recall now any special requirement, however you could maybe use some scripts to make the migration of those millions of savesets to the DD devices.

Are you using DDBoost? Do you have a license for it? What is the connection of the DD to the NW server, over a SAN? FC over IP?

Do you have an estimation of the size of those 7 years of backups?
