RMAN - Using backup copies feature not working

We are trying to manually backup an Oracle database on Windows using Networker to both disk and tape. We are trying to get an Oracle backup onto onsite disk and to go to a tape for sending offsite. We need to run the backup manually as it is part of an overnight scheduled batch function. We are using the backup copies parameter in the RMAN script and it just doesnt work. The command we are using is below. run { set backup copies 2; allocate channel c1 device type sbt parms 'ENV=(NSR_SERVER=hostname,NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL=ORACLEDISK,NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL1=Daily Offsite,NSR_CLIENT=client)'; backup incremental level 0 database plus archivelog; delete noprompt archivelog all completed before 'sysdate - 1'; release channel c1; } It seems to start ok but then RMAN just drops out. The RMAN log just has the message 'SEND_ALERT: Alert detected ... ' which is useless for diagnosing what is happening. We can backup to either pool individually but not together.

Check oracle's alert log.

Thanks - the Oracle Alert log was getting blown away by a script error and so all I was seeing was the SEND Alert message - however this is now resolved and I can see the error occurring. Problem now fixed as the BACKUP_TAPE_IO_SLAVES option had not been set by the DBA.
