RPC error: Unknown host
Hi,
I am having one Windows 2003 server (name: srvr1) which is Networker Client. When I am taking the backup of the above through a Solaris storage node, I am getting an error (RPC error: Unknown Host). But when I am taking the backup of another server (name: srvr2), which is of the sane configuration of the above, it is working fine. The Networker service is confirmed to be running on srvr1 and I am able to ping to the client from the backup server.
Pls help me to solve this issue.
Regards,
Shreejesh.

Hrvoje's right - this sounds like a name resolution issue. You say that you can ping the client from the server, but try these extra steps
(in each step test with both the hostname and IP address):
1 - do an nslookup of your server from the client.
2 - try pinging the server from the client
3 - do an nslookup of the client from the storage node
4 - try pinging the client from the storage node (and make sure that's the same name/value which is in the client's storage node field)
You may also need to add in an alias or 2 into the Networker client's alias field.
Cheers,
John

After you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Server 2003 Scalable Networking Pack (SNP) on a computer that has a TCP/IP Offload-enabled network adapter, you may experience many network-related problems.
