Sharepoint backups

I'm trying to snapshot backup Sharepoint 2007 on Windows 2003 with Networker Module for MS Apps 2.0.

I'm having some trouble with the configuration though. I have SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search as the saveset and the media is a AFD located on local storage of the NW Server.

Here is the message I get:

* mdlp03-sp01 mdlp03-sp01:SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search: No full backups of this save set were found in the media database; performing a full backup
* mdlp03-sp01 SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search: No such file or directory
* mdlp03-sp01 25048:nsrsnap_save:SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search: Failed.
* mdlp03-sp01 25056:nsrsnap_save:SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search: Path is not ok.
3 retries attempted
52051:nsrsnap:Printing savecmd=nsrsnap_save after parsing
SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search
20146:nsrsnap_save:Skipping backup of SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\Microsoft Office Search.
53285:nsrsnap_save:Found no paths to backup.
20135:nsrsnap_save:Could not find paths to backup.

I ran the command "nsrsnap_vss_save -? -c mdlp03-sp01" on the SP server and it told me that was the only available saveset.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Try to open this with support. vss command should indeed tell you what is available so if this is failing then...

Abhishek's answer has the correct steps: if the "nsrsnap_vss_save -?" command is not showing the SharePoint Writer, then the writer is not running and happy. You will need to examine Services to see if the Writer is present and started. The Microsoft-supplied STSADM registers the Writer Service. In a healthy environment you should see

"APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Office SharePoint Services"

and several more entries with more detail.

Thanks,

Hi VVRP,

This looks like a misconfiguration of the client, as you are getting all possible flags for the nsrsnap command.

Can you provide us with more information, specifically about the client so we can take a look?

Thank you.

Carlos.
