Hi Vargispa,

There are different approaches and I'm sure each member of the forum can come up with a different one, but for instance you can consider to have Exchange server/s and/or DB servers as storage nodes or dedicated storage nodes, so backup and restore performance can improve.

For NIC's you could have dedicated VLAN for backup and a separate one for production/management, but again, this is up to you and finance team to decide, as this will change the architecture and the network. Being VM's there should be no problem with the NIC's, but there will be with the switches.

Are you having only copper or fiber?

What are the backup devices, PTL, VTL, Data Domain?

Thank you.

Carlos.
