Slow backup Problem.

Hi,
We are facing slow backup problem

The backup is taking long time and keeps on running at a very slow rate.
We started manual full backup of file system backup group at
12:24:05 pm of 18-03-08 and still the backup showed in progress.if we look in the device windows it is still showing writing and also in the display of VXA server it shows writing for a while and comes back to ready state.

Even the capacity written as shown under sessions tab is increasing But at a very very slow rate.

Any idea why backup is taking too long time.

Thanks
With Regards
Hemant Joshi.

Check your network, there is something on the network that is not allowing data to flow through smoothly and creating a backup speed issue and terminating with a timeout.

Verify speed with ftp tests.

- Create some big file on client.
- Establish connection from server to client and do GET operations for file
- When done, establish connection from client to server and do PUT operation for file

You can do the same test with scp as it would give you stats right away.

Check the Network card setting (whether is set to Full duplex, Half duplex or Auto negotiate). Check your NIC or switch for the amount of data transfered through it. Also check the client for available resources and also test it by running it during off hours.
