Suppress * messages from various backup types

In savegroup completion notices, the * messages are normally warnings and error messages; however, the Notes modules, the SQL module, and the Novell {NDS} backups all generate * messages that are informatinoal only. I normally teach my clients to look for the * and address the issues, so I would like to know if there is a way to suppress these messages from any or all of these backup types.

Didn't try that, but if on UNIX and if they have different levels you could try to resolve it by adjusting syslog.conf.

Hrvoje, thanks for the response. I was hoping you would have an answer.

The Notes and MSSQL all run on windows servers and I'm not aware of how to change the settings (if they exist) on the Novell Netware server either.

Besides, wouldn't the changes to syslog.conf be a global change (not something I would necessarily want to change, just want to change for these specific backups).

Yes, but messages files is on server - is that UNIX box? (if Windows I have no idea how to do it). If you filter info messages from error messages even if it is on global level it would good change as it would give you overview over critical errors in one file without mixing anything else).

Yes, the NetWorker server is running on AIX; however, wouldn't that break the reporting capabilities of the Management Console. I thought MC reads the messages file to build its database of backup results, please correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know about NMC, but I would assume since you can set prefeences in syslog.conf as you won't that should not matter to NMC - otherwise that would be weak point of NMC.
