Hi Inna,

Since the Networker version and the OS which you are using are no longer supported, I may have to research more on this and get back to you with an update.

I will post you once I have some information on this

Thank you

Hi

Please attach Networker logs (both Client & Server) which will help us understanding the issue.

Thank you

Try to obtain 7.4SP5 client and install it on Win2k box - 7.3.2 was not good version.

Earlier, version 7.4SP5 was installed on the client and the backup of save set “E:\” failed always. The restart of backup never helped.

Then, we downgraded the networker software on client to the version 7.3.2.Build.364 and it became better. That error appears again, but the restart of backup helps sometimes.

Here are the logs from backup server:

savegrp -l incr -vvvvvIc acsint001 ATLAS_CTIS_OS_SN_Daily_Incr

Which NW version and DDOS? Do you see this only during fs backup? Is it all clients all or specific?

I have NW 7.6.5 and DDOS 5.* .

There are two clients . In one its for D:\ and in other its some mount point in unix machine .

File handle stale is something I had with Oracle backups after NW8 upgrade, but in your case it is file system backup.  If you use ddboost and if these backups are big, you may wish to check modifying OST_ABANDON_TIMEOUT but that needs to be confirmed by support first.  Since it happens with two clients only, it is obvious that conditions which lead to this error are specific to something related to these two (like timeout setting of some kind).

Hello Inna,

Windows 2000? that is not supported by Microsoft for years, same with NetWorker, it doesn't support Windows 2000.

Are you using Client Direct?

What NW server version do you have in place?

Have you tried creating an AFTD and backup that client up to an AFTD instead of Data Domain?

Thank you,

Carlos

I have bunch of win2k machines due to some older application dependency and they work just fine using 7.5SP2 against NW8 server using DD (of course, you can't use DDBoost, but that is not even necessary as data flow will just go over storage node as for any legacy client).
