Unable to start clone on managed server
1st time we've tried to clone since upgrading NMC to 7.6. We didn't have any problems when we were on 7.5.2, which is what we are running on the networker servers and storage nodes.
Any ideas on this message?

Hard to say without more info. My first reaction is to call Support for sure to ensure you get timely resolution in case you have found somethign more than just a configuration challenge. Other than that can you tell me:
We will try to help but I do urge you to get a hold of Support as well to ensure this is tracked properly to a clean resolution.
Cheers David,
Steve

We do clone by volumes, after our monthly backups have finished (1st weekend of the month), via the GUI. Scripts take up too much time, and too much drive time. I know 7.6 has some improvements with this, but right now, only our NMC is 7.6..
If I have time, I will call support tomorrow, but for now, our workaround is to use command line clones - nsrclone -b "poolname" volumename... That will do for now, but we'd like our GUI back...

We do have the same problem after NMC migration to new server. we are cloning on NMC from one media pool to anothe media pool by selecting clone option from right click menu on tape (in Media > Volumes)
If any one has solution please share with us.

Hi David, Have you got any update from EMC?
Please let me know what you got from EMC.
Thanks in advance,

I talked with EMC support person today after playing phone tag for 3 or 4 days. He is going to load NMC 7.6.1 on one of his test servers, to see if he can replicate the problem.
Hopefully, I will know something tomorrow, but I doubt it will be the solution. If he can replicate it, then it's on to engineering to see if a fix is even possible...

As I suspected, this is a bug, if you can call it that, in the new Clone package of 7.6.1. I suspect that if you try 7.6, it would work, as the Clone software was enhanced is 7.6.1.
The emc support person that I was working with will forward this issue to engineering, but there is no guarantee that it will be done.
As a workaround, I will probably install another NMC, version 7.5, on another machine... THat way, if they do come out with a fix, I will still have my 7.6.1 NMC running.

I still haven't heard anything from EMC on this issue, so I assume it's dead.
In the meantime, I rolled back to 7.6.0.9, which preserved my backup stats (fror reporting), and I can now clone through the GUI.
It's definitely related to something in the 7.6.1 NMC GUI.
