If you would have base edition for Unix, it should cover both HP-UX & Solaris and clientpak should not be required.

I have UNIX Networker 7.0 Business Edition. Is that sufficient.

Strange though, even I am a bit confused.

I am implementing the similar setup at a customer today - HP UX server & Solaris client and am getting the same error. Currently, I am using the ClientPak enabler but would contact my Sales Rep or support to understand this.

The networker base enabler enables clients of the SAME platform as the server, in your case HPUX.
If you want to backup clients of a Different Platform, eg other unix, linux, windows etc, then you need 1 clientpak for Each Platform.
The Unix Client pack will cover you for all other unixes
Linux, windows netware etc are separate paks.

EMC Networker produce a document which accompanies their price list called the EMC Open Storage Software Price Guide which explains all the licensing in detail.
Your local friendly reseller should have access to this, and I am sure he will be only to happy to sell you a client pak

The Sales Rep should include this clientpak while creating the BOM. It should not be an addon. This means if I but base eidtion for unix and have HPUX NW server, all clients should be HPUX only.

We had the same problem here, hp-ux server and tons of solaris and tru64 clients. The worst is that the environment (including licenses) were planned by EMC people, and they didn't know that we needed the ClientPak until we got the erros...

Thats true here as well and quite unfortunate that they themelves design th wrong BOM.

To make this more clear; in the past, you were "not" required to have UNIX clientpak to backup UNIX systems different than your backup server is. However, that was only because NW code did not check that really. Since certain release (which I'm not sure which is it) this has changed and since them such check exists and you are forced to follow something than once was only dead letter on the paper.
