I think IRIX is big endian while Linux is small one which makes a bit this migration unsupported unless you dump db and import it back I believe. However, that suggestion would need to be backed up first by EMC so I would strongly suggest you open this with support and have them do the migration. Irix is rare beast in NW world and there could be few hidden gotchas I could be unaware. Best thing would be to test it. Of course, I'm talking here about fastest way of doing migration - there are some slower ways that should work too.

As for claim that you do not have any issue with 7.0 - well, I would not say that loud given that release had one famous issue leading to potential data loss.

We have been very fortunate with Networker 7.0.

My concern though is that we probably need to move our Networker database to a Linux system. All the feedback I've received from EMC though states we cannot move the database to a different platform as it's NOT supported. I do not want to have to recreate everything from scratch.

Why don't you keep old Irix box as legacy server and use it just for restores if and when required?
