VBA , Networker Registration fails

Question

I just installed a VBA and is in the process of configuring it. I am at the screen for Networker registration . But when doing the "Test Networker Connection" it fails.

"The NetWorker connection test did not complete successfully. Modify your NetWorker settings and verify the FQDN can be resolved from the EBR appliance before you run the connection test again."

But I am specifying the IP of the NW server .

Also from the console of VBA , I can ping and connect to port 8080 on the NW server.

What cab be wrong ?

Got the answer from one of the previous posting

Reason for the failure: VBA's hostname was not set properly .

Fix: :re-depolyed the VBA. Verified the hostname from its console

As EMC guy, you are also supposed to use internal forums - this might give you different access and pace to answers.

i'm having the same issue? what do you mean it was noEt set properly? i currently have '-' in my hostname for my EBR proxy. for example, 'EBR-NWproxy-01'

Looks like an issue. Make sure the hostname ( run hostname command) and see it is what you set during the deployment. If not just re-deploy VBA .

On more serious note, as you have EMC tag, there is dedicate forum area for EMC folks - this is public part. As VBA is pretty much Avamar, you will need someone from Avamar corner to reach you and let you know how to reset password on appliance.

no need to redeploy just go into the appliance configure network and the set the hostname then it works fine.

Check the screen VBA on http: // EMC_Backup_and_Recovery_appliance_FQDN: 8580 / EBR-configure, configuration tab, communication with Networker, name FQDN of the NMC server. If it is blank, re-configure the server VBA.
