Verifying data path on a backup

Are you sure that the source can serve data faster than 50 MB/s ? You mentioned that this clariion is used by several systems.

You sure that Backup Server resolves fine by ip belongs HBA for the client.

Execute from Backup Server:

#ping cut_name_client
#ping long_name_client
#ping ip_address_HBA

#nslookup cut_name_client
#nslookup long_name_client
#nslookup ip_address_HBA

The HBA cards on my servers don't have IP's. They are only attached via Fiber to the SAN disks/LUNS. They talk to the network over ethernet only.

Forget the previous lines where I told you cut, long and ip HBA.

Really, the proof is you disable ethernet card and launch backup, in this way, you will see if it is ok and his speed.

Your Backup Server has ethernet 1GB and HBA, which, is connected in SAN.

Clarioon and Library are connected to SAN, too. Is it ok?

If yes, when the backup from disk to tape starts, it is going to backup on device, which, you have selected in NetWorker. If this device is seen by the HBA (is in SAN), the backup is by Fiber.

Other example is if you have Stand Alone attached directly to Backup Server, only is seen by Backup Server by port SCSI. If you configure this Stand Alone, and some pool has added this device Stand Alone, and a group, (which, has differents clients with ethernet), starts, then the backup by this pool is done by Ethernet, because device Stand Alone is out SAN.

You can verify that by looking at traffic on ports (both HBA and ethernet).
