I have seen it and it may happen for several reasons. First thing is to try inventory to see of that changes anything.

Do you have only one tape with this problem or all of them? I'm also running hp-ux with udpate1 and do not have this problem. Is it a new library/install or it was working fine until now?

Is this inventory which verifies label? If yes than during labeling process barcode returned wrong barcode id. It is possible you will see more of those soon then as it may indicated barcode reader issue (usually). When you do sjirdtag on your library can you confirm that barcode in slot is the one as reported by nsrjb? If yes, run scanner on that volume just to see what it reports to make sure information is correct.

Another possibility seen in practice, but rarely, is that someone swapped barcodes. Usually when that happens no one will claim they did it :D

Hi Hrvoje,

Inventory doesn't change anything. Have tried many times. But it doesn't seem to budge off from there.

Thanks

Are you sure your drives are in correct order? I would assume that could mix up the things too. The errors mentioned in your nsrjb reset are ok and expected.

Hi Daniel,

If you see slot # 22, the volume and barcode doesn't match again.

Slot # 36 also shows this.

The problem right now is that the media in slot #9 is now mounted on /dev/mnt/c63t1d7BESTnb and whenever I try to do nsrjb -IEvvv it says Mount operation in progress on /dev/mnt/c63/t1d7BESTnb and this commands ends with an error.

Here's a screenshot of the nsrjb command:

And for drive status, it might be bogus... what does nsrwatch say? Try to test it with mt and if busy without doing anything, unload tape with sjimm, fuser -k it and then disable / enable drive.
