VSS performance
I have just moved my MSSQL backups from vdi to vss and while the actual backup operation seems to take the same amount of time, I did a test restore of a very small DB and find the time excessive.
I have a test db of 25mb, log of 2mb.
The restore took all of 42minutes, 33 seconds.
Are there particular things I should look at to find the bottleneck?
VDI backups took 2-3 minutes, even for databases greater than 1gb.

Out of curiosity - why did you switch to VSS from VDI? VDI seems to be (still) more attractive and way fast with smaller databases - not to mention transaction logs itself. I also noticed EMC folks seems to love it a bit more.
