Is this a test situation or a recovery following a failure? If so what was the failure?

They are following the DR procedure according Netorker DR.
It is a test as they want to make sure a full restore will work
Basically they do:
- Install Windows 2008 server with 7.4.3 Networker client version.
- Recover the entire system without joining the client in the domain.
- After that the end customer restart the client.
- On startup the client stay always on a black screen after the Windows loading window.
- It stays in this state during half an hour. So the end customer decided to rebbot and then an error message appears before loading Windows. (the one described on the first post)
No changes of hardware or software so far
Many thanks

Only thing I have heard you are able to do with NTBackup on 2008 is restore files non-system related. (i.e. data type files.) NTBackup won't make backups though of a 2008 system. (My understanding.)
And that under 2008 you now use wbadmin I believe for VSS System State backups.
