Hello, we recently upgraded Networker from 7.6.3 to 7.6.4 back in early September. Last week we began getting NTDS backup warnings on our 2008 r2 domain controller:
This directory partition has not been backed up since at least the following number of days.
Directory partition:
DC=domain,DC=xxxx,DC=xxxxx,DC=xxx
'Backup latency interval' (days):
30
It is recommended that you take a backup as often as possible to recover from accidental loss of data. However if you haven't taken a backup since at least the 'backup latency interval' number of days, this message will be logged every day until a backup is taken. You can take a backup of any replica that holds this partition.
These warnings are coming a full 7 weeks after the upgrade, so it seems like something changed between the Networker upgrade and today. I've checked through our settings and don't see anything has changed in the saveset (it is still "All"). I am not sure how the backup could be missing the AD settings since they seemed to be ok before. This server has been online for almost 3 months as a domain controller and was being backed up fine until now. Is there anything else I can check in the Networker software, or is this strictly a Windows OS backup problem?
We have Networker client both on the 2008r2 server and the main backup server, which is running RHEL5. Both of them have 7.6.4.1 installed. The client on the 2008r2 server shows DISASTER_RECOVERY as selected under "Local Backup Directives". Is that what you mean by enabling the saveset? On the main server side, it is using no exclusions that I can tell, but I am not the main admin for that side of the backup so I may be looking at the wrong settings there.

Would you please run a backup to this client but instead of All as the saveset, change it to SYSTEM COMPONENTS:\ and start the backup with this saveset only. What is the outputs and if it is successful please monitor the event viewer after that if the same event for NTDS backup still populated or not.

Hi Moondog,
Are you using the NetWorker client to backup the domain controller or you are using the NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications (NMM) ?
Did you upgraded the Networker on the client or on the server ? I recommend you to rename the /nsr/tmp directory in the client and server to tmp.old (after stopping the networker services)
As far as i remember that NTDS backup is included in the SYSTEM COMPONENTS:/ saveset if you are using the NMM , but if you are using the NetWorker client, it will be included in the DISASTER RECOVERY:/ saveset as you are using windows 2008 R2, so are you enabling these savesets and which method you are using ?
