Dependening on demage level you will either:
a) run full restore or
b) reinstall the box to same patch level and then run full restore
With 76SP2 you run BMR directly.

Hi Zainal
Your disks should be mirrored at the least.
Your backup stratedgy for your backups should include this event. Depending on the size of your environment it maybe wise to replicate data or just back it up to tape. It might sit on SAN/NAS storage or it may sit on local disk.
typically if the networker server crashed and it was the only server in your backup hosting tape drives or disk storage, a windows box for instance. You still would have to build the OS again. then install networker and configure your tape drives.
then have a look at the scanner command. this will assist you in indexing a tape or lots of tapes if you have to.
Part of your stratedgy should be to write indexes to a seperate tapem or clone them to a different Data Centre by way of Tape or Replication. I choose replication personaly.
Naming & IP is important, Make sure your host names of your server/servers are the same. if you do recover your indexes and your hostname has changed your clients aren't going to know where they need to backup to and your licenses will nto work as they are based on the host name as well as the networker name.
Typically you should be backing up your DB, Indexes, nsr diectory, and or cloning your indexes.
I have put a heap of posts and or mentioned this stratedgy before on this forum, Feel free to have a look at my posting profile.
If you have all the lower level requirements covered you can get DR of the networker server down to minutes not hours or days.
Brain wave. EMC also have a product called "replistore" i used this a few years ago exactly for DR reasons. I don't use it any more but if your unsure hit up your account manager and he/she can help you out with information. Also powerlink is a good resource.
Hope that helps.
Scotty.

zainal,
Below is some information relating to the restore of data. My first question for you: is this the NetWorker server that has failed, or another client? Second, if it is the NetWorker server, do you know the media the last bootstrap was saved on?
Please log into PowerLink then drill down into Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ J-O ~ Documentation > NetWorker Family. In the left column, under NetWorker, select the version you are running. Look for the Disaster Recovery Guide in the list of documents.
Depending on the OS will depend on what section you need to follow. Also note that special restores, such as Exchange, Active Directory or LDAP, will take some additional pre-work.
My recommendation is to read through the entire section for the restore type you are doing to be sure you FULLY understand what needs to be done and who will need to be involved, then begin the work.
If you need aditional information or help, let me know!
