2816 won't go into managed mode

Question

Just acquired a 2816 switch. It is in unmanaged mode. I have followed the instructions on how to switch to managed mode (telnet into switch, hit ESC, choose 2 - erase file, name: config, Y, enter, switch auto-restarts), but when it restarts, it comes back up in unmanaged mode. The switch is unusable to me if it cannot be managed. Any suggestions? More than a little frustrating!

Hi, Have you pressed the mode button to switch the mode to managed?
