3348 expansion question
Hello - I have a PC 3348P (PoE) switch in a warehouse. It is the last link on the end of a single fiber run. It is now out of available ports and I need to expand it in the short term (2-3 months) before adding all new equipment.
The only thing that I have on hand right now is a regular (non - PoE) 3348. I'm not sure if I can stack these older switches 3348P vs. 3348 and I don't know if I want to if I could.
My question is: what is the best way to expand this? Can I setup a trunk port between the two switches and pass the VLAN traffic? I would setup the 3348 with the same VLAN as the 3348P.
The 3348P connects via fiber back to a 6248 at the home office.
Thanks.

The 3348 can be stacked and it will be easier to set up than creating VLANS, LAG and trunking. Either way is an option. If you need assist with configuration let us know.
PowerConnect 3324 / 3348 switch stacking provides multiple switch management through a single switch as if all stack members are a single unit. All members are accessed through a single IP address for SNMP management, and a console/telnet session through which the entire stack is managed.
The PowerConnect 3324 / 3348 switches support stacking up to six units per stack or scale up to 288 Fast Ethernet and six Gigabit Ethernet ports (one Gigabit port on each unit is utilized by the stacking hardware). The PowerConnect 3324 / 3348 switches can also operate as a standalone units.

We currently have 2 powerconnect 3348 on the 21st floor and are expanding to the 22nd floor. How can i add another 3348 on the 22nd floor to the stack?

It does not look possible to stack 3348 switches that are on different physical floors of a building. The stacking cables are specific to the model and are not available for that long of a distance.
