3524 VLAN tagging help

I'm attempting to use my 3524 to convert my fiber connection SFP to Copper.

I'm not sure how to verify that the switch is actually doing what I think it is supposed to be doing.

from the ONT it passes the internet via VLAN 35, form there I need to log in with my PPPoE info.

Currently I have a media converter SFP > 1000 Base-TX (TP link) which then goes directly into my ESXi VM running pfsense.  There I have tagged the WAN car with VLAN35 and I initiate the PPPoE connection.

If I attempt to use the switch instead the PPPoE connection always fails.

I have tried the following SFP ports 22+23 (to make sure one port isn't dead/damaged) set as Customer, General, Trunk and Access with the PVID 35.

Then I have port 18 also set to PVID35 and all the VLAN modes above attempted as well.  No matter what nothing works.

What I need is:

I need port 18 (going to my pfsense WAN card) to pass untagged traffic over VLAN 35 and the SFP slot is set to tag packets explicitly with VLAN 35.

I'm just not sure what options to choose to achieve this. FWIW, I'm using the Dell GUI only.  Not sure if there is something that I have to use the CLI for here. Dell SW ver: 2.0.1.4

Thanks

Hi,

If you are just needing to set port 18 to pass untagged traffic on VLAAN 35, an access port set on vlan 35 should work. It may be better to do it in the CLI.

What about tagging traffic as VLAN 35 on the SFP port?  What would be the correct VLAN option there?

You could do trunk mode tagged 35.

thanks, but unfortunately none of that seems to work for me.

Maybe the switch is faulty, or maybe it just can't do what I need it to in this case.

I'll just have to invest in another switch that I know will work with this config I suppose.
