Completely new and networking need help configuring a Powerconnect 6248P
Hello Dell community,
I am completely new to manage switches. I just purchased a dell power connect 6248P and have had to factory reset this unit countless times while trying to learn and/or figure out how to get it to work. Right now it is connected to Arissis 8200 surfboard for the Internet. I have it all set to a 100.192.168.XX. This is my VLAN one which I was thinking to use for all enterprise. I have also set up the VLAN to which is 102.192.168.XX; this is for all clients devices. I have also set up 103.192.168.xx and this is my wireless. Here is the major issue I am having: I cannot get the switch to route traffic. I am completely confused on how to even get to the GUI 93% of the time. Most of the time when I try to log into the GUI it just says “refuse connection”. So, I go back and I change the IP connection settings on my local lan to match that so that I can access the GUI and try to configure it...but have the same issue. Nine out of 10 times I’m unable to access the GUI. Please help me. Right now I’m dead in the water with a lot of work I need done, and I can’t figure out how to even begin because I don’t know how to do CLI commands.
please help.

Hi Saul,
You should have a Router between the modem and the switch most likely. It doesn’t have Network address translation (NAT) to convert your public IP into private IP addresses. Let me know if you have additional questions.
