Copy configuration from tftp

Good day!

When copying a configuration file from a tftp server, it
neither can be saved to the startup-configuration nor the
running-configuration.

Is this a design limitation? What other meathod do you guys
/gals use to restore your switches configuration?

note: vigilant.config is running-config copied to the tftp
server.
